Haptape

A touching interface.

Screens made software visible. Haptape makes it tangible. Under your finger, the surface can feel like soft clay, a grand piano key, thin ice over soft silt, a stone wall with a hidden switch, or anything else you program it to be.

It responds to how deep and how fast you press: it can stay firm, yield slowly or snap through. Feel the air with wings and the water with flippers. Every point of a digital space can have its own shape, texture and give.

For everyday interfaces, creative work and engineering alike: buttons and sliders you can feel, music, sculpting, CAD, robotics, games, and anything else worth feeling rather than just seeing. The working prototype is best felt hands-on; the next one is in progress.

Haptape can also record: set it against a real object, and it presses in at different speeds and measures how the object gives way. That feel becomes a profile you can play back on anything.
